Terms of Service

The short version: it’s your stack, your media, your rules.

Momokji is a self-hosted media pairing service by SpicyRiceCakes. We run the front-desk account system that links your devices to your own home stack. We don’t host, store, or stream your media — that stays on your hardware.

1. What we provide

SpicyRiceCakes operates the account system (“the Switchboard”) that lets you create an account, pair your own self-hosted Momokji stack to it, and link devices to that stack via short-lived pairing codes. We coordinate the introduction between your devices and your stack; we do not relay, cache, or store your media.

2. Your account

You’re responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us (name, email) and for keeping your password secret. You must be old enough in your jurisdiction to agree to these terms. One account may pair multiple Momokji Stacks.

3. Your stack, your data

Your Momokji stack runs on hardware you control, and your media lives there — not on our servers. We store account records (your name, email, hashed password, and which stacks are paired to you) so the pairing and sign-in system works. We do not have access to your media library and cannot view, stream, or copy files stored on your stack.

4. Acceptable use

Don’t use Momokji to distribute content you don’t have the right to distribute, to attack or probe the Switchboard or other users’ stacks, or to attempt to pair a stack you don’t own. We may suspend an account that abuses the pairing system or attempts to compromise it.

5. Availability

The Switchboard is provided on a best-effort basis. Momokji is designed to fail closed: if a direct connection between your device and your stack can’t be established, playback stops with a clear reason rather than silently routing your media anywhere else. We’re not liable for interruptions caused by your network, your hardware, or factors outside our control.

6. Changes

We may update these terms as Momokji grows. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

7. Contact

Questions about these terms or your account can be sent through the contact channel listed on our home page.
